We are delighted to present the inaugural vintage of Moone Tsai LEONIDAS Cabernet Sauvignon, a head-turning, transcendent wine, with an unmistakable pedigree, rooted in an arresting combination of exceptional fruit, terroir and artisanal winemaking.
This noble cabernet crowns the wine legacy of MaryAnn & Larry Tsai, co-founders and proprietors of Moone Tsai. Bearing only the finest fruit from Pritchard Hill's acclaimed Montagna Vineyard, LEONIDAS pays tribute to the founders' thirty years of creating some of Napa Valley's most celebrated wines.
InspirationInspiration
LEONIDAS, the Son of the Lion, was Warrior King of the Greek city-state of Sparta in c.489 BC. His legend was burnished when he and his 300 Spartans repelled Persia’s overwhelming invasion at the Battle of Thermopylae.
The creation of LEONIDAS builds on the founders’ belief that we must endeavor to find ways to transcend ourselves, and surpass the boundaries of expectations, conventional or otherwise. Translated from the Latin phrase - “TRANSCENDE TE IPSUM”; this pinnacle cabernet is an exhortation to “Rise above” one’s limitations... to realize the potential for greatness, of which we all can be capable.
